Chef Jason Visits The PRESentation College Old Boys for a Food Fete Reunion
Chef Jason ventured down to the South Lands of the PREStigious PRESentation College to adjudicate the PRESentation College Old Boys’ Food Fete and Alumni Reunion. Joining Chef Jason was the Ultra ubiquitous Foodie Blogger and Culinary Review Trailblazer; David Wears as well as Chef Marissa Joseph of “The Palette by Marissa” Restaurant.
It was a grand culinary affair to see all the different years of alumni culminate to share drinks and delicious plates of delicacies such as Curry Duck, Oil Down, Geera Lamb, Stew Pork, Dhal Soup, Curry Crab and so much more. “Pres Boys know how to lime and bubble ah’ pot & we doing it till’ midnight tonight said a proud bubbler of the class of ‘89”.
Apart from the amazing food and infectious happy vibe shared by all past students, it was the infectious camaraderie and synergy that everyone had as they all held a drink in one hand and some cutters in the other and simply chatted and laughed with the different old boys of varying graduating years. The football field, open breezy space as well as fresh mountain view all added to a great day of fun, laughter and aromas.
At the end of the culinary battle, class of ‘93 stood tall with their “Ode to Oildown ” by creating the traditional breadfruit and pigtail dish as one version followed up by a cassava and curried goat Oildown and lastly a seafood and dumpling Oildown studded with fresh lobster, shrimp, fish and topped up with crispy salted fish and smoked herring. I always say, can’t beat a Trini’ when it comes to making a good Oildown - we have revolutionized this dish. :-)
Andrew Alden Friday also known as “Fries” was the Master of Ceremonies and mentioned that this was their seventh year of doing this food fete reunion and things were about to get a little sticky next year as class of ‘93 has copped the title 3 times and so did class of ‘89 . So he said next year it would be interesting to see who would reign supreme as both those teams have three titles each.
A special day it was and I definitely look forward to retuning again to enjoy the imPRESsive effort and heart filled hard work that the committee executed for this great event that is solely in support of assisting the current students of the school in making their stay and journey throughout Presentation College a memorable one.
